A TRIBUTE TO DR. MAYA ANGELOU

It saddens to say RIP Dr. Maya Angelou. Beat Orchard Indeed, I am appareled by how quick your departure was. However, like you said, "I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

This message, "Dr. Maya Angelou passed quietly in her home before 8:00 a.m. EST. Her family is extremely grateful that her ascension was not belabored by a loss of acuity or comprehension. She lived a life as a teacher, activist, artist and human being. 


She was a warrior for equality, tolerance and peace. The family is extremely appreciative of the time we had with her and we know that she is looking down upon us with love," by Guy Johnson left lovers of your literary works bewildered. 

"History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again. This is because courage is the most important of all the virtues since without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.

Courage will propel the desire to reach the stars. Maya Angelou echoed Erin Cummings words, 'it takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.'

Moving forward, we have to confront ourselves. Do we like what we see in the mirror? And, according to our light, according to our understanding, according to our courage, we will have to say yea or nay — and rise!'

 
You were a great author and poet. Your works were an inspiration to most of us. At least, we shall remember some of your prestigious words:

*There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

*I do not trust people who don't love themselves and yet tell me, 'I love you.' There is an African saying which is: Be careful when a naked person offers you a shirt.

*You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.

*Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.

*You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.

*You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.
